Mom’s Guide to Orlando’s Seasonal Festivals: Don’t Miss These!
Hey there, fellow Orlando moms! Living in this vibrant city means there’s always something exciting happening, especially when it comes to seasonal festivals. From food to fun, these events are perfect for families looking to create lasting memories. Here’s my guide to the must-see seasonal festivals in Orlando, sprinkled with a few personal anecdotes about my kiddos—Lily, Emma, and Jimmy!
1. Orlando’s Annual Family Fun Fest
Every spring, the Orlando Family Fun Fest takes over a local park, and it’s a blast! This festival is filled with games, bounce houses, and face painting. Last year, I took Lily and Emma, and they couldn’t contain their excitement. We spent the day hopping from one activity to another.
Emma loved the petting zoo, where she got to feed goats, while Lily conquered her fear of heights on the climbing wall. The look of pride on her face when she reached the top was priceless! Don’t forget to pack a picnic blanket and some snacks—it’s a perfect spot to relax and enjoy a family meal.
2. Epcot International Food & Wine Festival
If your family loves food (who doesn’t?), then the Epcot International Food & Wine Festival in the fall is a must! While some of the food and drink options are geared toward adults, there’s plenty for the kids too.
We took the kids last year, and they had a blast trying out various dishes from around the world. Jimmy’s favorite was the cheese bread from Brazil—it disappeared faster than I could take a picture! Plus, there are kid-friendly activities like cooking classes, which kept them entertained while we explored the tasty treats.
3. Halloween at Universal Studios
When fall rolls around, Orlando transforms into a Halloween wonderland, especially at Universal Studios. The Halloween Horror Nights are legendary, but they also offer family-friendly options during the day leading up to Halloween.
Last October, we decided to go during the day when it was less crowded. We all dressed up in fun costumes—Lily was a princess, Emma was a fairy, and Jimmy was a little dinosaur. Watching the kids parade around the park in their costumes while collecting candy was such a joy! The themed attractions, like the Despicable Me Minion Mayhem, were a hit, and the festive decorations were stunning.
4. Orlando Christmas Market
As the holiday season approaches, the Orlando Christmas Market lights up the city. It’s filled with local vendors selling handmade crafts, holiday treats, and delicious hot chocolate.
One chilly evening, we bundled up the kids and headed to the market. I still remember the look on Jimmy’s face when he saw Santa Claus. He was so excited to tell him what he wanted for Christmas. The joy of the holiday spirit was contagious, and we even found some unique gifts for family and friends while supporting local businesses.
5. Spring Fiesta in the Park
Spring brings the Fiesta in the Park, a delightful event that combines art, music, and family fun in the beautiful Lake Eola Park. With local artists showcasing their work and live music filling the air, it’s a great way to enjoy a day outside.
We attended last year, and the kids loved the arts and crafts area where they could create their masterpieces. Emma painted a flower pot that she still shows off at home! It was also the perfect opportunity to enjoy food from local vendors. Lily couldn’t resist a giant pretzel—it was bigger than her head!
6. Fourth of July Fireworks at Lake Eola
If you’re looking for a spectacular way to celebrate Independence Day, head to Lake Eola for the Fourth of July fireworks! The atmosphere is filled with excitement, and families gather for picnics and fun.
Last year, we arrived early to secure a good spot. We spread out our blanket, and I set up a mini picnic with sandwiches and fruit. As night fell, the fireworks lit up the sky, and I could see the wonder in my kids’ eyes. It was a magical moment, and hearing them cheer with every explosion made my heart swell with happiness.
Orlando is a treasure trove of seasonal festivals that the whole family can enjoy. Whether it’s indulging in delicious food, celebrating holidays, or simply having fun outdoors, there’s always something to look forward to. So grab your family, mark your calendars, and dive into the festivities. Here’s to creating beautiful memories together!
