How to Organize the Perfect Family Outing in Orlando!

Hey there, fellow Orlando moms! If you’re anything like me, you know that planning a family outing can feel like both a joy and a challenge. With three kids—Lily, Emma, and little Jimmy—finding fun activities that everyone will enjoy is key. Here’s how I organize the perfect family outing in our beautiful city!

1. Choosing the Right Destination

The first step is picking the right place. I like to consider what everyone will enjoy. One of our favorite spots is the Orlando Science Center. The last time we went, Lily was fascinated by the dinosaur exhibit, while Emma couldn’t get enough of the interactive displays. Jimmy, of course, just loved running around and exploring everything!

When planning, I make sure to involve the kids in the decision. This way, they feel excited and look forward to our adventure together.

2. Checking the Weather

Orlando’s weather can be unpredictable, so I always check the forecast before finalizing our plans. One time, I planned a picnic at Lake Eola, only to realize it would be a rainy day. Instead, we shifted our plans to an indoor trampoline park. Watching the kids bounce around while I enjoyed a well-deserved cup of coffee was a win-win!

3. Packing Smart

Once the destination is set, I make a checklist of what to pack. Snacks are a must! I usually pack a mix of healthy options—like cut-up veggies and fruit—and some treats, because, let’s be honest, kids love a little sweetness.

I also make sure to bring water bottles, sunscreen, and hats if we’re heading outside. On our last outing to the zoo, I packed sandwiches, and we found a shady spot for lunch. The kids loved it, and it saved us money too!

4. Planning the Schedule

A rough schedule helps keep things organized without being too strict. I like to plan a start time, meal times, and a rough idea of how long we’ll spend at each activity. For example, when we went to the Orlando Museum of Art, we aimed to spend two hours exploring before heading to a nearby café for lunch.

However, I also keep it flexible. If the kids want to stay longer in a certain exhibit, I go with the flow. That’s when the best memories happen—like when Emma wanted to spend an extra half-hour painting at the kids’ art station.

5. Involving the Kids

I always try to include the kids in the planning process. Before our outings, I ask them what they’d like to do or see. On one occasion, Jimmy wanted to visit the animal encounters at the Central Florida Zoo. I let him pick which animals to see, and it made the day even more special for him!

This way, the kids feel involved and excited about the day ahead. Plus, it gives them a sense of ownership over the outing, making them more likely to behave and enjoy the experience.

6. Making Memories

Don’t forget to capture those moments! I always bring my phone or a camera to snap photos of our adventures. I love looking back at those pictures and remembering the fun times we shared. Last summer, we visited a local farm and picked strawberries. I got some adorable shots of Lily and Emma covered in berry juice, laughing together. Those photos are now some of my favorites!

Organizing the perfect family outing in Orlando doesn’t have to be stressful. With a little planning, flexibility, and a focus on what everyone enjoys, you can create lasting memories that your family will treasure. So grab your family and start planning your next adventure—there’s a whole world of fun waiting for you right here in Orlando!
