I’ve been spending some time with this girl lately.

I found this photo of her…a photo taken around 1969, at her best friend’s house.

She was 9 years old then.

There was a lot going on. Her mom was in her last days of alcoholism and her big sister…the one who took care of her through it all…had moved out of the house.

So, this girl…this vibrant, alive, funny, sensitive girl was coping really well.

To be clear, her coping mechanisms may not have been great but she was definitely doing what she needed, to survive.

She always has.

This morning, I thanked her for all she had done to take care of me back then and over the years. Sure…she developed some coping mechanisms that may not have been the healthiest, but they worked.

Some of these have even become her super powers.

I bet you have some super powers too.

Good morning my friends.
