This is the story of TJ and me for those of you who don’t know it. (I have no idea when I took this photo or what we are looking at, but it makes me smile.💜)
This past August, TJ followed me and my other two dogs home.
I put a collar on him and a leash and off we went looking for his home.
He took me straight to his mama, whose foot was impaled on the top of a five-foot fence in someone’s back yard. (She had been hanging there for over 12 hours according to a neighbor who had heard her cry but couldn’t find her.)
TJ was clearly agitated, as would be any sweet being.
(There’s more to the story about Mama and TJ’s first human family, but I won’t go into that.)
George, head of animal control in Marfa, removed Mama from the fence but she was so badly injured she had to be euthanized.
I’m pretty sure if you had told me, “Molly, three dogs will be good for you” back in July, I would’ve told you, “No way!”
But now I truly can’t imagine what my life would be like without this guy. He has brought more joy and presence to my life…joy and presence I didn’t even know I needed.
It’s like he completed our family. Each of my pups is so unique and wacky and wonderful, each in their own way.
Good Friday night my friends.
